Prawnfresh is a safe and easy-to-use product that controls the onset of melanosis in wild-caught and farmed prawns. This results in prawns that have a much longer shelf life, which in turn increases their market value.

A safer alternative to metabisulphite

The active ingredient in PrawnFresh is safe to use and leaves and it works by inhibiting the PPO Enzyme present in the prawn that triggers Blackspot in all species of prawns. PrawnFresh produces a more natural looking prawn in terms of pigmentation and it extends the shelf life longer when compared with sodium metabisulphite treated prawns. Result is all organoleptic properties of the prawn are retained whilst providing an improved and safer product for the consumer who were previously absolved from consuming seafood due to allergies from sulphites.

An independent study on the various alternative treatments to sodium metabisulphite found that Prawnfresh delivered the best results*. As well as being safe and effective, it is simple to use and is applied in a dip.
